Christmas may be over, but there’s still plenty of excitement to be had. Today, starting at 3:00 p.m. ET (1:00 p.m. MT), Georgia Comes Alive will launch a one-day virtual music festival promoting active votership”in the upcoming runoff elections by supporting local grassroots organizations Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda and CivicGeorgia. Coordinated by HeadCount, the event will be produced by the team behind Democracy Comes Alive, Quarantine Comes Alive, and Justice Comes Alive, which collectively raised close to $300,000 and garnered nearly 2 million views. GCA is also proud to partner with Participant, the producers of the new film John Lewis: Good Trouble.” The festival’s stellar lineup includes several Colorado artists - Andy Frasco, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Big Gigantic, and Nathaniel Rateliff. To support these local artists and the overall cause, Sonder Music Management and Rocky Mountain Virtual have partnered to donate and will give away 5 tickets to the event to the first people to claim them in the comments of the Facebook posts, Instagram posts, or on this blog post. One of these five tickets will be given away in Dog House Music Studios’ name, as they continue to be an incredible support for our local Colorado music community, offering a place for artists and musicians to be seen and heard while venues’ doors remain closed.

Sonder Music Management and Rocky Mountain Virtual highly value the mobilization of voters so that every voice may be heard in the decision-making processes of our country. According to Georgia Comes Alive’s website, “Americans turned out in record numbers to vote during the 2020 elections, largely thanks to the dedicated activism of grassroots organizations and the collective participation of historically underrepresented communities in battleground states like Georgia, where election officials are in the process of a presidential recount. The Georgia elections were so close that the state's two senatorial seats are being decided in a runoff election in January. While the Georgia runoffs will be decided by local voters, the results will have national implications, as the Senate majority hangs in the balance.”

Georgia Comes Alive will begin today at 1:00 p.m. MT and will run until 10 p.m.. MT. To view the festival, you can donate any amount on their website to receive the links to the stream. Sonder Music Management and Rocky Mountain Virtual have donated and secured five spots, which we will give away to five lucky recipients! To enter, here’s what you need to do:

Here’s a little bit about each of the participating musicians and bands from Colorado:

Big Gigantic (Between 9:20 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. MT)

Big Gigantic is the electronic bass collaboration between Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken. The two incorporate heavy visuals into their live performances and often have notable sit-ins like Jennifer Hartswick. They’ve been very vocal in fundraisers, have their own foundation, A Big Gigantic Difference Foundation, and on Giving Tuesday, matched all donations to various charities from their fans. Recently, they released their Fall Chill Mix livestream, which you can watch here.

Andy Frasco & The U.N. (Between 3:20 p.m. - 4:25 p.m. MT)

Andy Frasco & The U.N. is a high-energy American blues rock band originally formed in Los Angeles. Two of its members, Andy Frasco and Shawn Eckels, now call Colorado home. Andy and Shawn have been lifesavers through quarantine, coming up with creative ideas to keep the music alive and keep spirits up, like Andy Frasco’s World Saving Shitshow and live streams like isolaShawn by both artists. The band also did a drive-in tour this summer, entertaining audiences in safe and socially distant shows.

Nathaniel Rateliff (Between 7:15 p.m. - 8:20 p.m. MT)

Nathaniel Rateliff is perhaps one of the biggest names to come out of the Colorado Music Scene as of late. You may have seen him as a solo performer, or as part of his full band, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, who skyrocketed to fame with their song, S.O.B. This year, Nathaniel released his latest solo album, And It’s Still Alright, about love, loss, and resilience. In November of this year, Nathaniel appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live and performed the title track from his most recent solo album. He also released a song, Redemption, for the major motion picture, Palmer, starring Justin Timberlake, premiering on Apple TV on January 29, 2021. The full band, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, has headlined Red Rocks in late August for many years, and recently completed a five-night solo run to a virtual audience.

Nathaniel Rateliff is also known for his foundation, The Marigold Project, which supports community and nonprofit organizations working on issues of racial, social, and economic justice.

Big Head Todd and The Monsters Live at Red Rocks 2008

Big Head Todd & The Monsters (Between 3:20 p.m. - 4:25 p.m. MT)

BHTM formed in 1984 in Colorado and reached national and international fame. Their 1993 album, Sister Sweetly, went platinum in the United States. You can catch Big Head Todd & The Monsters every summer at Red Rocks, or on one of hundreds of shows across the world. BHTM often features the one and only Hazel Miller in their live performances and studio tracks.

Georgia Comes Alive will take place on Saturday, 12/26 and be hosted by SiriusXM’s Ari Fink. Donations will benefit Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda and CivicGeorgia. Georgia Comes Alive is sponsored by Live for Live Music, Headcount, The Peoples Agenda, CivicGeorgia, Nugs.net, Plus1.org, and Fandiem.
